I stepped into the 3D industry in 2008. At that time, 3D architectural animations were less accessible due to limited resources and expertise. Hardware limitations made it challenging to create high-quality animations, and the cost was relatively high. However, 3D architectural animations were gaining popularity as they became more necessary for presenting designs.
Back in the day, in 2008, We used to render using a core 2 duo machine. I know that machine is worth nothing anymore. You cannot even browse comfortably on that machine today. 3D animation was expensive because of both hardware and software constraints.
We wanted to show our junior artists what it felt like working as a 3D artist in Archviz, especially producing 3D animation. We installed a very old version of 3D software in our latest computer as well as in our antique core 2 duo machine kept in our museum. The new machine is 40 times more powerful than that core 2 duo. But rendering the bench-marking scene was only about ten times more efficient.
We opened the same scene with the latest 3ds Max on the latest machine. It feels like the hardware says that, please don’t install older software on me. The software says that please install me on the latest hardware.
Back to the point. The machine took longer to render because of its own limitations and the limitation of the software. We were ten times slower than today. That means we are ten times faster than we were in 2008. So today, in 2023, we can comfortably offer our clients a much better rate because we do not have to wait long for the machine to render.
Let’s dive into the quality part. The quality of animation is what matters the most. We can now produce much better quality 3D animations not only because we got more skills and gained experience but also because the software and technology got better.
Probably the most important update was the advancement of real time rendering engines. It can handle more triangles, complex shaders, and much more sophisticated GI. So much so that we can now rely on real time engines to produce photo-realistic 3D scenes. Guess what? Now we can produce as many frames as needed. Meaning we can produce animations at great lengths. Meaning you don’t have to pay per second for animations anymore.
So, when it comes to 3D animation, we could not produce extremely photo-realistic stuff due to time constraints, lack of resources, budget constraints, and, most importantly, technology was not up to the mark. Even if it was there but not accessible by many like us. Here is an example of our past works on 3D Animation.
Thanks for watching. But not Great. Of course. It did serve the purpose at that time but not anymore. Do you want to see what we are capable of doing now? Here is an example of 3D Animation-
Thanks to The latest Real time technology and software packages like Unreal engine that made creating 3D animations easier and more photo realistic than ever before. These advancements have allowed more professionals in various industries to take advantage of the benefits of 3D animation.
The latest technology and software packages have revolutionized the Archviz 3D animation industry. We don’t know what is coming next. We are just hoping that tomorrow will not be so different that we will have difficulty handling it. We don’t know where the AI revolution takes us. We have been keeping the 7CGI team up to date. We conform to the latest technology as it emerges. All we know is we must keep up with the evolution and revolution of technology in our 3D Visualization industry.
