Stadler Drive The House in The Woods

This project is all about creating a modern home that blends seamlessly with nature. Our role was to provide architectural rendering services only. That includes creating a set of interior renderings as well as exterior renderings that express the vision of the architects and the designer.  The design features cement shingle roofing and walls in variegated greens and browns, inspired by James Hardie’s color palette. Think Mountain Sage, Monterey Taupe, Khaki Brown, Heathered Moss, and Timber Bark—all coming together for a natural, camouflaged look.

Exterior Details:

  • Oversized rectangular shingles (12” x 24”) for a bold, modern aesthetic.
  • Windows: Clad aluminum in Iron Gray.
  • Stone accents: Wrapping around two corners (~1 ft on each side) with additional stone details at the back.
  • Stucco: Covering non-stone areas for a clean, balanced finish.
  • Roof options: Metal, steel, or cost-effective composite shingles.

Interior Design:

  • Floors: Dark concrete, nearly black.
  • Walls & Ceiling: Resawn Douglas Fir boards (8” wide, matte finish), installed horizontally for a warm, modern touch.
  • Overall feel: Clean lines, light tones, and a natural, contemporary aesthetic.

Architectural Style & Inspiration:

  • Inspired by Yardhouse by Assemble, but with a more rectangular shingle pattern and colors that blend with the surrounding trees.
  • A shed roof design with green metal window frames (similar to the client’s home).

Completed 3D Renderings

We had plenty of freedom in choosing furniture and fixtures, though the client had a few preferences too. Stefen was a great bridge between the architect, interior designers, and our 3D rendering team, keeping everything on track.

The FF+E we received was well-organized, showing the client had a clear vision for their 3D rendering needs. They shared SketchUp screenshots, neighborhood images, and even a Google Maps location, giving us everything we needed to bring their project to life.

The owners were deeply involved in the decision-making process, but the design never moved forward. Nearly a year later, they returned with a fresh concept, ready to experiment. That is the beginning of almost like a new project.
